A SitLab chair needs very little. Set it up properly once, keep it clean, and protect the armrests. That is the whole job.
Set it up first
- Seat height. Feet flat on the floor, knees just past a right angle.
- Seat depth. Two or three fingers between the seat edge and the back of your knee.
- Lumbar. Set the support at belt line.
- Armrests last. Shoulders relaxed, forearms level with the desk — and clearing it.

Armrests
Armrests are the part of a chair most likely to be damaged. When the armrest sits higher than the desk edge, it catches the desktop every time the chair is pushed in. That causes scratches, scuffing, and eventually structural damage to the pads and posts.
- Set the seat height first, lower the armrests until they clear the desk.
- Boardrooms and meeting rooms are the highest risk. These chairs usually come with fixed height armrests and are made from premium materials such as aluminium and leather. While these chairs are a statement piece for these areas, these features also make them more susceptible to damage.
- Options are available to fix the seat height adjustment so in most cases the arms do not clash with the table or desk.
Please note: damage to armrests, arm pads or posts caused by contact with a desk, table or other fixture is not covered by the SitLab warranty.
Fabric
- Vacuum regularly on low suction.
- Keep out of direct sunlight. UV fading is not covered by warranty.
Mesh
- Vacuum on low suction, or wipe with a barely damp cloth.
- Do not scrub, stretch or lean objects against it. Mesh is tensioned and will not recover its shape.
- Do not spray cleaners directly onto mesh.
Gas lift
- No maintenance needed.
- Never tamper with, dismantle or remove a gas lift.
Spills and marks
- Deal with spills immediately.
- Gently scrape off solids or blot liquid. Do not rub.
- Do not saturate the fabric or the foam beneath it.
Leather and PU leather
- Wipe spills immediately with a soft cloth and warm water.
- Do not use solvents, aerosols, polishes or abrasive cloths.
- Keep out of direct sunlight.
- Leather — treat annually with a leather renovating cream. Test on a hidden area first.
- PU leather — never use a leather renovating cream.
Please don't
- Push a chair under a desk when the armrests do not clear it.
- Sit on the back of the chair.
- Stand on the chair.
- Tamper with or remove the gas lift.
- Leave outdoors or in damp conditions.
Looking after the chair keeps your warranty intact. Damage from incorrect cleaning or armrests knocked against a desk is not covered.
